Lidocaine hydrochloride
Used for preoperative anesthesia in animals, including low and high epidural anesthesia in cattle, local and regional anesthesia in horses, epidural and intercostal anesthesia in swine and epidural anesthesia in sheep and goats.
Epidural anesthesia:
- Horses and cattle: 5-15 ml.
- Calves, sheep and goats: 1 - 10 ml.
- Dogs, cats: 1 ml/4.5 kgs B.W.
Infiltration anesthesia:
Dilute to 0.5% concentration (1 ml of 2% solution dilute with 3 ml of sterile water = 4 ml of a 0.5% solution).
- Horses, cattle and deer: 20 - 100 ml.
- Sheep and goats: 10 - 20 ml.
- Dogs and cats: 1 - 5 ml.
Dehorning and develveting (dose per nerve site): 2 - 10 ml.
Other nerve blocks (dose per nerve site):
- Cattle and horses: 5 - 20 ml.
